Totally worth it, always nice ans humorous bus drivers and you will meet a lot of new people, you are never alone! Beautiful stops on your bus trips, gorgeous sceneries! Stray has some nice hostels but if you stay longer, book your own hostel!

Being on the bus with stray is great, you meet so many new people and the atmosphere is amazing. Most of the bus drivers are good fun and they offer you a lot of activities and show you really cool spots. However, I really have to say that the organisation is pretty terrible. Especially Straymate is not working properly, or not working at all. In my Straymate I couldn’t see my bookings, so I had to call every time I wanted to book. I also went to the Stray office in Auckland, and the staff was unfriendly and not even able to book my trip, they just sent me home saying I should book it myself. I also had people in my bus, who had booked their entire trip and it just got cancelled for no reason and they suddenly had no seats in the busses. This simply should not happen. But as soon as you are on the bus it’s great fun!

Stray is most definitely not a "hop on, hop off" bus. It's difficult to even book yourself a space on the buses despite there always being spare seats, and more often than not the website randomly removes your seat bookings and does not notify you that this has happened. When ringing the office or asking the drivers for help as I'd be otherwise stranded I have been told there's "nothing they can do". The avoidable stress that has tainted my trip around New Zealand, solely due to Stray, has ensured me not to recommend their services to any other traveller I meet.

Great experience shared with like minded people. Fun and knowledgeable driver guides, awesome scenery, lovely hikes and really cool activities - favourites being canyoning at Abel Tasman, Kayaking at HAhei and White water rafting at Rangitata.

Traveling with stray was great. I met many new people & saw amazing places. Its definitely one of the easiest way to get around the country. Its a good idea to plan your journey beforehand, as buses might be full.

Everything is great at the moment, but I'm just starting with the Moe's patch pass first. The drivers are so kind and funny! A question: I bought the Maximus + Moe's patch, so can we "retravel" a section as many times we want during the year? Thank you for everything!

One more day to go and then it's time to leave New Zealand. Feel very sad and that's partly because me and my sister had the best time traveling with Stray (and ofcourse because NZ is just freaking gorgeous and beautiful and awesome, haha). Stray itself can definitely improve some things. For example; give in advance more clarity about things (that you have to book your busses in advance, "just" hopping on doesn't work) and some of the people in the office can definitely use an extra training about helping their customers. Had a couple of times that we called and arranged things and then the person in the office would just not book it. You have to check check dubble check everything they do and that's pretty anoying. And, if you advertise with WiFi, make shure it is in every bus and stop with the 150 mb limit, that's just ridiculous. But then the drivers.. Nipper, Weka and Yogi. Thank you guys so much for being awesome and being amazing tourguides. Absolutely loved every second and had an amazing time on your busses. You definitely made our New Zealand experience complete. Nipper: you were our first driver and bammm, we immediately had the best one. At least, that's what it felt like. Your humor, energy and knowledge about the area was amazing to witness and you made absolutely everyone feel welcome. The feeling we had when we had to hop of the bus said about everything: We could literally almost cry. Haha. Thanks for your kindness, the amazing party's we had and your unconditional energy. Going to miss you, your one of a kind, that's for shure. And don't forget, princesses don't win gumboot throwing competitions. Lol. Love ^^ Weka: although it was your first tour on your own, you rócked it. You were interested in your passengers and we realy felt that you like your job and that you're passionate about it. Thanks for the random facts, they were awesome. Haha. Had great fun with you (definitely going to miss your laugh and your random actions filming yourself, haha). Just go on with what you are doing and you will give your passengers an awesome time. (And I will try to stop the "awesome" cursing, haha. Awfull). Thanks mate ^^ Yogi: we were on your bus for the shortest amount of time but it was a great time. You are funny, nice and you know what you are doing (at least, that's what it looks like, lol). It was lovely spending time with you and you are an awesome guy ánd guide. Cheers ^^
