Had an absolute blast on stray! It's a great way to travel around this amazing country. Traveled with many drivers but Lolly was by far the best driver. She made sure everyone interacted with each other, on and off the bus. We had many costume parties, and group meals together. Each stop had many different activities to choose from. On of my favourite spots was the blue pools, jumping off the bridge into the cool clear water. Everyone was always friendly and welcoming. Would definitely travel with stray again. The only down fall was some of the busses were not the nicest with no wifi. But the places you get to experience makes up for them.

I had an amazing 6 weeks with Stray, I was travelling on the Maximus pass so I Did both islands. The drivers are really kind and have lots of information about the country. The Stray accomodation is pretty decent most of the time, i only didnt like the base hostels Because they are way too loud. Hopping of is really easy and possible at any time and place on the Stray route. Keep in mind that in summer it can be really busy so you might be unable to hop back on the next bus. In summer i would recommend to book your trip in advance! One of the best things about Stray is the people you meet on the bus, most people are solo travellers and really social people. During my trip i made Some awesome friends from all around the world! I would rate Stray 9/10

Definitely a good (probably the best) choice if you would like a guided travwl through New Zealand but don't want to do it too touristy. Stray takes you to unique places like the blue duck station and offers you fantastic activities all around the country.

If you ever want to travel NZ in a short time frame then choose Stray. I travelled the north and south island in about 6 weeks and had an absolute blast. Stray really does go off the beaten track (yes, they drive the touringcar busses over dirt tracks to get to some of the places they stay) and this way you'll discover places you wouldn't even think about whilst travelling by yourself by car or campervan for example. Also, it was really easy to meet fellow travellers that you either travel with the entire time or see again in other towns and cities in NZ. I met some amazing people and had such a laugh with them! We even met up in other towns to have drinks. The downside of travelling with stray and especially during high season is that you have less flexibilty in hopping on and off when you want. Sometimes busses are full and then you'll have to stay somewhere longer that you'd like. All in all, amazing experience where you'll see the beauty of new zealand in combination with having a good laugh with fellow travellers AND the bus drivers too!

Stray trip was amazing! The drivers were all very helpful and traveling solo meant that I felt safe. The drivers discussed activities that were on offer but didn't push you to make a booking. It's a great opportunity to meet like minded travellers and friends for life! Thanks Stray!

Totally worth it, always nice ans humorous bus drivers and you will meet a lot of new people, you are never alone! Beautiful stops on your bus trips, gorgeous sceneries! Stray has some nice hostels but if you stay longer, book your own hostel!

Most of the bus drivers are good fun and they offer you a lot of activities and show you really cool spots. However, I really have to say that the organisation is pretty terrible. Especially Straymate is not working properly, or not working at all. In my Straymate I couldn’t see my bookings, so I had to call every time I wanted to book. I also went to the Stray office in Auckland, and the staff was unfriendly and not even able to book my trip, they just sent me home saying I should book it myself. I also had people in my bus, who had booked their entire trip and it just got cancelled for no reason and they suddenly had no seats in the busses. This simply should not happen. But as soon as you are on the bus it’s great fun!
