Used stray for Myanmar as well as their Phou Pass (Northern Thailand and Northern Laos). Both tours were great. "Sunny" guided myself and only one other girl through Myanmar to small villages and the bigger cities. Local guides in each place were helpful to understand the local culture. "Mai Tai" guided me through Thailand and Laos and I can honestly say he was one of the best guides I've had (I've used multiple tour companies all around he world). He's helpful, funny, and really cares about his passengers having a good time doing what they want to do in their travels.

We used Stray Asia Phou Pass to travel through Laos as did not know much about this country and were not sure how to organise transport. We considered day time travel in a minibus a safer option than overnight coaches and as we are older we wanted a comfier option. Stray Asia provide knowledgeable guides who organise transport and accommodation (you pay for this separately to the pass). Our guides were really good and a lot of fun! We were in a group of 27 to start with and although most were under 25 some people were in their 30s and we are in our 60s. Everyone was really friendly and we ate meals together and went to bars. You can hop off and have longer in a place you like but that may mean waiting a few days for the next bus. We especially liked Luang Prabang as there is a lot to see there plus extra trips. We went to Kuang Si waterfalls in a minibus and explored the falls before swimming in lovely pools. We walked up Phu Si mountains for wonderful views in the town and went to a beautiful monastery. There is a brilliant night market too. There was not enough time in Vang Vieng as it was just a stopover and it would have been nice to have a whole day there for river activities. You could hop off but that would have been too long for us between buses. I would recommend the Phou pass as it means you can enjoy Laos and learn a lot about local life through the local guides.

Our Stray guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Always happy to offer advice and tips for the whole of SE Asia and beyond and help book and plan our personal plans. Ran the entire trip smoothly and was a good friend too. There is a lot of travelling on this pass, but the sights and towns visited make it worth it. The two day boat ride is a good time to chill out and get to know your fellow Strayers and the homestay inbetween is a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend Stray.

Mekong river slow boat was a beautiful experience, as was staying in the local village over night and learning about their culture and way of life. Playing with the kids was a highlight as they were so willing to learn and have fun. The transport at all times was so convenient as it was just there and ready. Never had to wait around for anything. It saved us a lot of time for sure. Also nice to have private taxi/boat/bus the whole time. Can not rate this pass highly enough for everything it offers. Tubing in Vang Vieng was a real highlight for me and my friends. Well worth a hop off to spend another day or two doing it again!

Amazing experience! Do not be fooled by the description, you get a personal tour guide all the way through who helps you with everything. We were worried about the 'hop on hop off' aspect but really didn't need to be. We will be using stray again for other adventures.
