I travelled the Tom Yum pass (Laos) and Khmer pass (Cambodia) with Stray, and it was the most enjoyable 4 weeks of travel I have experienced. The hop-on hop-off bus makes it easy to meet new people and let's you get off wherever you want to spend more time, meaning that you can just catch the next bus. The tour guides (mine were La, Kaio and Chris) are well-informed and professional, and the buses are comfortable and safe. In Laos I spent some time at a homestay along the Mekong, and it was one of the highlights of my trip, seeing how the villagers live and work - I even tried some local rice whiskey, or 'happy water' as they like to call it. In Luang Prabang we visited the local markets, and in the party town of Vang Vieng we visited some awesome waterfalls and bars before hitting up the capital for a few nights. In Cambodia we visited the genocide museum and S21 killing fields, both very profound and memorable. To contrast this, we also visited Sihanoukville during the Khmer new year (a crazy beach town) and Koh Tonsay, a paradise island with only a few hours of electricity per day but it boasts some great cocktails. The homestay in Battambang made is feel like one of the locals as we walked around the village and sampled specialities like rat and chicken embryo. The final night I'm Phnom Penh was a fantastic way to end the trip. Thank you La, Kaio, Chris and all of stray for making my trip so enjoyable

I had an incredible time on my stray tour. There were so many quality activity options, we went the the greatest elephant care center, there were always suggestions of things to do during free time, and I really enjoyed that we got to go off the beaten track and truly see life in Laos. Transportation was as good as I expected, and it was convenient that whenever we arrived at a new location I didn't have to deal with finding a Tuk Tuk or a taxi to drive me around, everything was sorted including accommodation, all I had to do was pay for accommodation. Stray really has their stuff figured it when it comes to travel convenience. I've already recommended stray to others and I've just barely finished my tour -- lovely experience.

We're so glad you had a great time and would recommend Stray! From the photos it looks like you had a really fun group. We love the picture of the elephant giving you a kiss!

I only had 2 weeks to travel and I wanted to get away from the really busy touristy areas in the beaches. Stray offered a way for me to get around easily, do and see some interesting things, feel safe, secure and meet some other people who wanted a similar experience. I absolutely loved the Mekong Homestay experience on the Mekong River. I also loved the Rice is Life "The Living Land Farm" activity offered in Luang Prabang. We learnt the 14 stages to cultivating and harvesting sticky rice.. a staple food of the region. Thanks Stray for making my trip easy, fun and interesting without any hassle. Looking forward to travelling other countries with you.

I also really liked Luang Prabang for mountain biking and Vang Vienne for the awesome scenery. One highlight for me was 'getting off' the bus in Chiang Mai and staying until the next bus came. This is certainly a unique point about Stray and something which was cool. My bus ranged in numbers from 4 (from Bangkok to start with) to 8 so you got to meet lots of new people. I packed it all into just 10 days which was tight, but all the time I could get off work. Strongly recommended .. problem is, now I want to do Cambodia and Vietnam and Myanmar!

Stray asia has been some of the greatest fun I've had in my life. Maitai is such a chill tour leader and really helped my trip become more fun. His strait attitude and party vibes make hanging with him fun and safe.

I can honestly say that my trip and guides were amazing. Somboun was an absolute legend and was so welcoming. I loved the homestay on the Mekong, it was completely out of my comfort zone but that was why I went to South East Asia. On the trip I became mates with some fantastic Danish and English and have been whole heartedly singing stray's praise to everyone I've met. Maybe Stray isn't for everyone... but I found the concept of hopping off (I got Dehli belly in Luang Prabang so jumped off there) great, the guides fantastic and the off the beaten track stops (a homestay on the Mekong and a cave for the old Laos king between Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng to name a few) great and hard to find when researching the trip before hand. If it's not off the beaten track enough, you can hop off and explore on you're own until you're ready to get back on and meet more new people. The buses were also cool and comfortable, and after seeing what the public buses were I was glad to be on a Stray trip... Accommodation was good as well. Nothing too flash but all reasonably priced and comfortable. Again it's a hop on hop off adventure so they never made us stay anywhere, some even decided to find their own. The exception was the homestay, again in comparison to paying in Euros was cheap, included 2 meals and was an amazing but boundary pushing experience. The only thing I would change would be how long I was in Asia for! 3 weeks was not long enough! Finally Somboun was a legend, give that man a payrise!

I finished the Tom Yum pass a few weeks ago as part of a month long trip to SEA. Stray was without a doubt the most rewarding trip i have ever experienced, only made better by our wonderful, honest and hilarious tour guide, Josh friendly! I am sad to hear he is taking a break from Stray as i genuinely wish everybody could have the pleasure of meeting him but wish him all the best. Myself and my friend met the stray team the day before we were due to depart and their smiling faces and warm welcome made us even more confident and exited for our trip ahead. The first part of the trip is tough if you have only just arrived in SEA as its a lot of culture, a lot of new food and an overnight train! But this really gives you a chance to get to know your group and your leader, all questions we had about the trip were answered within the first day and by the time we reached Chiang Mai we were all ready to get stuck in! Chiang Mai is an incredible experience but slightly too touristic, the tiger temple is overpriced and although they assured us that the tigers were sedated, i'm not too sure... However the night market and the Muay thai truly was a spectacle and this is where our group really became a family! The homestay in Laos was and eye opening experience and the Basi ceremony was a once in a lifetime experience you WILL NOT get anywhere else, if you find no other reason to use stray go for this!! Tip: if you like a party, hop off in Vang Vieng, think i'm still recovering!! Met so many awesome people here, another place i will never forget. Can't emphasise enough how josh made this trip better, all my great memories are thanks to him and he really opened my eyes in terms of the spiritual side of SEA that many westerners neglect and even disrespect at times, so if you see this bro, thanks a million, have a great time in ZL and stay amazing! From the british and the aussie girl, travelling together bringing our crazy dance moves and even crazier trousers with us x

Just finished a Thom yum pass through Laos and thailand. I was really impressed with stray the itinerary took us to some awesome spots and we saw things and had experiences we couldn't have had traveling alone - particularly the homestay in a lao village which was a highlight for me. What really made it though was our guides, Ryan , Chao and KitKat. Each guide helped form a group culture and made sure we all had a good time. Ryan knew some awesome local spots and made the hell of the overnight sleeper train a good time. Chao was probably one of the nicest dudes I've ever met and his genuine and friendly nature made every minute on the tour a good time. Kit kat was hilarious and included everyone while handling some pretty difficult situations and rowdy group members. It was also cool to see the local guides (chao and kit kat) passion for their country and their jobs you could tell they were stoked to be showing us around. Cheers to stray and most of all thanks to Ryan chao and KitKat you guys are awesome we'll definitely be back as soon as we can. -Ben
