GIVE changed my life. Without having gone on a GIVE trip, I would have negatively impacted the world much more since. The leaders on these trip are extremely experienced and know how to inspire every single volunteer to be a better human being, all while having the most fun two weeks of your life. If everyone were to go on a GIVE trip, the world would be a much better place.

It may sound a bit cheesy but my experience with GIVE was genuinely beyond words. In my time in Nicaragua I have experienced so much, with every day ending in a deep sense of gratification shared between everyone in the group. From the local community, guides and other volunteers I only ever experienced a compassion and companionship that made me feel at home even when thousands of miles away from all my family and friends in the UK. Accommodation and food was consistently high quality, and there was always plenty of bottled water available. We stayed in two locations, first Monty's Beach lodge in Jiquilillo, then Cool Spot in Little Corn Island. Both were absolutely beautiful with cheerful, friendly staff and good facilities and catering. Travelling during the trip was very well handled by the guides, making it very easy and stress-free for all of the volunteers. The endlessly friendly and fun people I was with made even sitting in a coach or plane a good time that flew by. From start to finish this trip exceeded my already high expectations, and I am so glad to have taken the leap and gone for it instead of staying home in my comfort zone. I spent a long time deciding whether I was independent and confident enough to be able to go on this excursion, and if you are feeling the same I can't urge you enough to do it. The work you would be doing really makes a difference, on the communities in Nicaragua, Thailand and Tanzania, and very noticeably on yourself. I cannot explain through text how amazing this trip was, you have to go out there and find out for yourself.

Going into my trip I didn't have any expectations because I had no idea what to expect. But if I had expectations the trip would have exceeded all of them. The places we stayed were amazing. We had nice bathrooms and beds and the people at all of them were super nice. Our guides Sammie, Joel, and Teresa were amazing people. If you were sick they would help you however they could and could talk to you about anything. They all want you have the best experience you can and really care about everyone. Being in Nicaragua really changed my life. I was able to see how global warming really effected people and will always remember that from now on. If I could I would go back on the Nicaragua trip because it was the best experience of my life.

Nicaragua was amazing!! I felt SO safe, included, immersed, and a part of a family. The guides were awesome and really present, they weren't scared to be part of the group, and at the same time were organized and kept the trip flowing smoothly. Overall, everything i went into my trip worried about, the food, traveling, the people, exercise, were all easier and more enjoyable than even being at home! I can not begin to describe how this trip changed me and how my experience was, but I can say that i didn't want to leave, and would be back there right now if i could! I trusted the people at Monte's surf place and in Jiquilillo so much, that when I misplaced my money the only thought that went through my head was "I must have miss placed it, it will show up." there wasn't a fiber in my being that believed it would be stolen, and it wasn't, I left it in the bathroom and someone else turned it in. to be able to say that while i was in a foreign country and had that much trust with the people around me, more then i trust the people in my home town, is astounding to me. The experience I had with GIVE has altered the way that act at home, I have a new awareness on the effect of my actions and life choices. I would say, make this trip possible for you, no matter what. I can only speak for myself, but it was worth everything I put into this trip, money, time and all.

I volunteered with GIVE on a trip to Nicaragua this summer and I can honestly say this is the best experience I've ever had in my life. I got an amazing group to work with who have become friends for life, guides who are so loving and caring and made the trip as perfect as it was. Furthermore this experience has changed my outlook on the world and the people in it. I've come out with the feeling of understanding how different communities live and how incredible people can be when they all have the same goal in mind to help each other. I also got to do some incredible things whilst there such as take part in coral reef conservation, sandboarding down an active volcano and many other brilliant experiences. Honestly I would recommend this trip to anyone and I can't say enough good things about the trip.

GIVE took me on the most spectacular 2 week journey of my life. This adventure has changed me in ways I cannot even describe. It has taught me so much about how to be sustainable, but more importantly, it taught me how to just be a better human being. Day one our guides brought us together and made us a family, by day fifteen we had become a part of each other. Something no one back home will, or can, understand, because we went on this journey together. No matter how hard we try, that feeling can never be replaced. However we were taught to do just that. We were taught to go home and bring our lessons, and new sense of self, with us, and to spread it in the hopes to make our country a better place. Before leaving for this trip, I felt I was a shy, unsure, and cautious human being. But now if I see a stranger on the other side of the road I will not be afraid to smile and say hello, because that is how friends are made. If there are opportunities out there waiting for me I will not hesitate to run with them, because that is how confidence is made. And if someone asks me to come along for a ride I will always say yes because that is how adventures begin, memories are made, and life is lived. Thank you GIVE for showing me how to live a life I did not know existed. I now share my heart and soul with all of GIVE and the Nicaraguan people, and I plan to continue spreading my heart across the world for as long as I live.

My experience for this trip was definitely not what I expected, but in the best way possible; it was "perfectly imperfect". This trip was very eye-opening and it was absolutely incredible. My volunteer excursion to Nicaragua was filled with a thousand mosquito bites, enduring unimaginable heat, and working harder than I ever thought I could, although I have never had a better time in my life under such "poor" circumstances. We as privileged Americans experience only "first world problems" which although relative, are so minor it is almost sad how much we exhaust them. I would 100% take working hard and sweating buckets with amazing people around me and in such a breathtaking environment than be comfortable and feel so lonely and unconnected to those around me. This trip taught me so much about how so little can make us so happy. The ride to our accommodations was long but worth it as I was able to connect with my fellow givers during the trip and rest from all the time change and travel in general; there are no complaints I could identify whatsoever. Monty's was absolutely amazing as the staff were friendly and treated us as if we had known them forever, and not just as guests. The community, especially the mothers and their children, welcomed us with open arms not only into their everyday lives but their homes and their lifestyles and all together just made us feel so included in everything they did. The men on the work site in Jiquilillo offered us guidance and assistance and also treated us as if we were just a new friend. On Little Corn Island the sense of community was even more present (if possible) and I loved how much the children made us feel so special; almost as if we could be their older siblings and teaching them in the most fun way possible. The accommodations in both places were beautiful and quite comfortable. The downtime activities and options were never boring and always presented ways to either interact with those around you, whether that be someone from the GIVE party or one of the locals, or even just take some time to be alone, it was always so refreshing and sweet. Although I can go on and on about how beautiful both places were, and how the work was what I would not have imagined and was actually nothing I really thought it would be, I could not stress how much the givers and the guides made some of the biggest impacts on the trips as well. My group was absolutely amazing; everyone was so wholesome and humbled and silly and really fun and crazy (in a good way). The guides were very balanced and absolutely hilarious. Although the guides (and intern) were within the same age range, they carried such a high sense of maturity and calmness it was hard not to mistake them as being so much older. My group in particular was also grouped with some still in high school and I must say those young adults have to be some of the wisest and coolest and most down to earth kids I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. This volunteer trip was everything I could have asked for. Everywhere we stayed was comfortable, and the staff offered the best hospitality I have ever experienced. The trips to get to the destinations were long, but worth the ride as we got to sing songs on the bus and enjoy the wild panga (boat) ride and really just appreciate one another's company. The guides were what I have always hoped for and wanted if I could have ever had an older sibling. The work we did, as well as the people we met was absolutely rewarding in every way possible. The greatest gift I received from this experience was definitely how welcoming, loving, and especially how appreciative everyone was without necessarily vocalizing it. The best part was realizing that it was not us that impacted them, but rather they that impacted us. 110 out of 100 would definitely go again.

There are some trips where you book a hotel, type in a Google search, see the sights, get back to the hotel, and sleep in a nice cozy bed. There's nothing wrong with that but this is absolutely not one of those trips. You get your feet dirty. You meet the locals in the villages you visit and the children smile and you see the beauty of the country whether it's in the food you eat, the people you talk to, or the way the sun sets apart from the lights of the big cities we are all accustomed to. I have been to 3 trips by GIVE thus far: Thailand, Laos, & Nicaragua. And I keep coming back to them because there's something wonderful about meeting other people from around the world that care about the Earth just as much as you do & that care about making a positive impact in the world just as much as you do. These trips allow people to experience culture in a way that immerses you. Whether you bamboo raft down a river for 3 days in Thailand, take part in a traditional Buddhist ceremony in Laos, or sand board down a volcano in Nicaragua. These are just one of the many examples that make these GIVE trips absolutely life-changing.

I went on a GIVE Volunteers trip at the beginning of this summer. If you know me as a person, know what I have been through, done, who I've touched, the relationships I have made, my ambitions, my love for nature, friends, and more, you'll understand how much it means for me to say it was the "best two weeks of my life." Since getting back from my trip, I have told stories and shared slideshows of my trip to countless people. Each time, my diatribe last hours. I discussed every picture, every notion, every idea, every moment, sunset, day, night, meal, relationship created, and memory engrained. I encompassed every modicum of detail. It would take far too long for me to recount the trip here, as I solemnly believe that I cannot explain enough in words how this trip made me feel, how absolutely spectacular it was, and how meaningful the relationships I made were with everyone from volunteers, to locals, and even to animals. So what I will do is this: I am going to tell you that this excursion was the best two weeks of my life. In my 21 years so far, this is hands-down the best thing that I have ever been so fortunate to be a part of. And I want to stress that I have had an amazing life. I have lived my life with the notion that each day could be my last, that life is not short, it is the longest thing we have, and that I should make the most out of every moment. I have lived all my days to the fullest and made sure I was happy at the end of the day to the best of my capacity. I cannot describe the intricacies and events that I have been lucky enough to know and do, so I will let what I've said thusly paint a picture for you of how good a life I've had. Just imagine one lucky individual who doesn't take it for granted, and imagine two weeks of being with GIVE topping all of that. Hopefully, that gives you some sort of idea how wonderful this trip is. I encourage everyone to do some sort of international volunteer trip sometime in their lives. I chose GIVE Volunteers. Whatever you decide, if you're waiting on this, go for it. Just do it. It will be serendipitous. Things fall into place. You embrace the sweat, dirt, tears of joy, hugs, heat, and beauty. You embrace the world and the people in it. You will believe in simplicity. With GIVE, what you get are the best prices available for these trips, beautiful locations, wonderful locals, truly amazing fellow volunteers, and more. I have made some friendships in two weeks that are deeper than some I've made my entire life at home. I've seen sunsets you couldn't find if you googled "best sunsets on earth." And I’ve been fueld to travel more than ever before. Going as an adult was wonderful, cause I could really appreciate everything and compare it to my personal history and origins. Regarding how this trip felt, you know that feeling you get when you finish a 12 mile hike and you're standing on top of a mountain looking at a gorgeous view? Or you know that feeling of being on the precipice of a cliff after a nice climb and feeling your heart throb as you look over the edge cause of danger, rush, and just sheer spectacular scope of the view that takes your breath away? Or the sudden light you feel emerge inside you when you hear a song that reverberates with every single bone in your body? Or the feeling of something so simple as being close with someone you love and kissing for the first time? Or how about seeing your pet after a week away? Well I got these feelings and more every single second on this trip. I woke up on beaches less than a hundred feet from the ocean. I saw crystal blue water dance across my feet with light shimmering. I had the best, most authentic international food you could find. I was surrounded by like-minded, ambitious, kind-hearted youth. I played soccer against the orange glow of the sunset every evening. I sat with best friends every night over the subtle sound of wonderful music, night breezes, and waves kissing rocks. I cannot describe enough in words how much I LOVE GIVE, Nicaragua, and more. I have never been more enthralled to live life in my entire life. IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. If you have known me my entire life, you will know how much gravitas that holds. I implore everyone to check out this organization and become a part of something that embodies the human spirit; something that carries a love that will outrun oblivion; something that defines you for the rest of your life in the best way possible. Just for fun, I want to include some of my favorite memories. Keep in mind that none of these were planned, and were spontaneous, yet oh so welcome. 1.Several children placed me in holy matrimony with a fellow volunteer. In other words, I GOT MARRIED (Unofficially, of course)!!!!! 2.There was a massive pool party with almost every volunteer and hotel staff that occurred in the middle of one fateful night. 3.Everyone has such a strong personality and carries so much history that you really get to know everyone so well. You get to a point where you could almost effortlessly and impeccably impersonate everyone, exaggerating their most prominent qualities. It is awesome to know people so well!

This trip to Nicaragua was the best 2 weeks of my life thus far. The guides (Sammie, Joel, and Daniela) were so unbelievably kind, welcoming, funny, and helpful. They made traveling easy and fun. They also were so wonderful at opening our eyes, and teaching us about the community that we were helping. Thank you GIVE for this wonderful experience.
