Lacey "Our family of 7 (ages 27-63, no kids) had an amazing time on our tour! We did sort of a split between the Driftwood and the Adventure tour, so there was always something for everyone to do. We LOVED our experience with Vagabond and HIGHLY recommend this fantastic company! It was worth the price to have a knowledgeable driver who was willing to adjust the itinerary to do whatever tickled our fancy."

This was my second tour with Vagabond, both times with the 8 day Wild Irish Rover. One in 2012 the other in 2014. Surprisingly, the tours were different which was AWESOME!! We basically toured some of the same places, but because I had different tour guides, they chose some of their faves to take us to! I also chose them twice because I had the best time the first time around. Accommodations are wonderfully thought out to be convenient and pleasurable for the traveler. Your tour guide is always there to answer any and all questions you may have and are knowledgeable about each area. The ride on the Vagatron is fun, comfortable and unique. Their destinations and activities were wonderful. I highly recommend Vagabond as my top choice in small group tours throughout Ireland. Actually thinking of taking another one in 2017!

Amazing tour. Very off the beaten path. Did a ton but was not rushed. Guides were great, hotels were very nice. Loved every second.

I picked Vagabond to tour Ireland because of the promise that it was unlike other large commercial tours. There were definitely some positives and negatives to the tour and so I'll start with positives. All of the accommodations were absolutely perfect. They were in great locations- either in beautiful settings or right in the middle of the busy towns. The complimentary breakfasts at each location exceeded my expectations too. The tour guides were extremely knowledgable, personable, accommodating, and overall great people to be around. Because of a plane delay, I missed the first few hours of the tour but the owner of Vagabond, Rob, was an absolute lifesaver guiding me to get from the airport to the first stop and then arranging for the tour guide to go out of his way to pick me up. I was very impressed and grateful for their exemplary service. Lastly, we were never dumped into a gift shop or tourist trap, like I've experienced on other tours so that was nice. Now to the negatives... I despised the Land Rover we drove in. It was cramped, uncomfortable, claustrophobic, and made me carsick almost every day. The only good seat was the front seat which, despite the rule that we were supposed to take turns in the front seat, the same person got to sit in the front seat for about 7 of the 8 days of the tour because she chose to come on the tour with a broken foot. Also, much to my surprise, we spent roughly 6 hours of driving per day. In addition, of all of the activities listed on the itinerary, we only had the chance to do 4 - a 40 minute hike, a mountain bike ride that was way more strenuous than we were led to believe, an hour horseback riding trip (not worth it), and a trip to the Aryn islands that no one went on because the water was too rough and bad reviews from a traveler that had done it before. The rest of the activities were either never mentioned or not opened yet for the season. Lastly, there was almost no free time offered. The biggest disappointed for me was the amount of driving we did each day - I did not expect that. If I had known beforehand, I would have chosen the Driftwood tour for the more comfortable vehicles. All in all, I know some of the negatives were out of Vagabond's control and had to do with my own personal preferences which is why I've decided that this is the last tour I will ever go on. I really expected this tour to be much different but I learned that a tour is still a tour no matter how you dress it up. So, if that's your thing than this is a probably a little better tour than the large commercial tours (if you don't get carsick) but don't expect it to be that much different from others.

We had a wonderful time on this trip! What we liked best was the small group experience. There were 11 of us, and we had plenty of time to get to know each other while traveling around to the different locations. The vehicle was able to be "off-road" which we were a lot, so don't expect the comfort of a big luxury bus. The good part of that is that we got to see places and things that the big tour bus could NEVER get to. I gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 because not all the places we stayed had the same level of excellence, but for the majority the breakfasts were very good. The restaurants suggested by the hotels and our guides were always outstanding--especially the seafood selections. One thing I would suggest--the option of the Aran Islands tour--it was exceptionally cold and windy on the day we went, and the sea was VERY rough. If you have trouble with sea-sickness, you might want to skip that optional tour. Over all, this was a wonderful vacation and I would recommend it !

I traveled with my 17 yr old daughter and Mia was our guide/driver. Mia is amazing, funny, filled with detailed facts and just very comfortable to be around. Vagabond Tours was our first tour ever and I personally was nervous doing the "tour" thing. Well, I was WRONG! Vagabond is not the usual tour company by any means. First off, they have small groups, so small that for the last two days of our tour, we had the truck and guide all to ourselves! Talk about custom! I loved the Land Rover for transportaion because you were able to sit where you wanted and after the first day, everyone on the tour found their favorite seats and stuck with them (although you certainly didn't have to) I chose a window seat since I am an avid photographer. For those of you who get car sick, I reccommend sitting up front with the driver or by a window. The accomodations surpassed my expectations (which are high and picky, even if I do say so myself) Every room we stayed in was oversized and spotless as well as being brilliantly located. The Inn owners were always welcoming and ready to lend a hand at a moments notice. Flexibilty!! That's the key here. Mia would actually tell us the next days itinerary and then ask if we wanted to change anything or see anything else that wasn't mentioned. Imagine that, a choice on a tour! Keep in mind that ONLY your breakfast is included with your tour, but the benefit of this is that you get to choose where you want to eat and how much you want to spend. Best meal hands down was at the Gourgane Barra (tour stay)Although I must add that I never had a bad meal on this tour. My best tip: food portion sizes throughout Ireland are HUGE, so save some money and share! I only wish they toured Scotland, which is where I am heading in 2013. Best of Luck Vagabond, next time I tour Ireland, I'll be seeing YOU!
