we had an amazing game viewing trip through Drive Botswana. We saw everything we had hope to see, lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, a leopard plus much more. Andy was able to get us into the game reserves we were hoping to visit, even over the Easter weekend. Some of the highlights we had were:
- lions pushing us off our breakfast in the Central Khalahari, and the feeling of being the only people within 20 kms watching it unfold
- hiking to the top of Man hill in the Tsodilo hills just after sunrise
- watching tree squirrels try to fend off a black mamba in the Tsodilo hills
- feeling luxurious at Thamalakane lodge
- dodging hippos while boating through the Okavanga, then watching the sunsets over the delta
- watching a pack of wild dogs in the Nambwa, Caprivi Strip, Namibia
- feeling like you shouldn't really be that close to hippos and elephants on the Chobe river
- being pampered at Kubu lodge, Kasane
- seeing a African wild cat trying to stalk birds in the early morning south of Savuti, Chobe
- watching a waterbuck approach a pack of wild dogs until it was almost 20 feet from them, Khwai, Moremi
- having hippos and elephants walk through the campsite in Khwai, Moremi
- watching a lioness stalking a giraffe in Nxai pan
There was also so much more to the trip and Andy made it so simple and easy for us, even with multiple border crossings. We'd highly recommend Drive Botswana for an excellent tailor made itinerary.

My parents and I spent 3 weeks on a custom built self drive around Botswana, the trip was absolutely amazing and surprisingly went to plan! We did make a few changes on the way round which were accommodated very well by Andy, and meant we got to see 5 more lions!
The trip was more than we could have hoped for, even in the dry season we saw all the game viewing we possibly wanted (and more!). We did cheat slightly and had a guide at some of the camps, which was definitely the way to do it! Would definitely recommend this trip.

We really had great time in Botswana and everything went fine with no "bad issue"
Besides Cheetha's, we saw a lot of animals during the day as well some during the nights when they decided to visit us (Lion twice and elephants twice too ...). Thanks for booking everything for us park fees, camp sites as well as Kubu Lodge, Audi Camp and Thula Lodge.
We also had a nice private flight over Okawango, giving us a better look of where we drove in and a motor boating in Xakanaka on the river.
Kalahari was a nice drive (wa all loved and enjoy it), we deflate 2.3 front and 2.5 rear for the all trip, drive main of the time in 3rd at 30-40kmh (very few times in low gear to pass water or 2nd high in deep sand), gaz average was 10.4liter with a max 12.5liter in Kalahari sandy roads. Total run has been 5010km and junction like Kasane or Sorowee was pretty fast due to excellent road conditions (driving 100kmh easily, no less no more).
among our best :
Khanke with the proximity of the pan (with big thunderstorms for 3 evenings), Piper Pans and our 1st Lions,
At Deception, we changed (squat) for the Kori camp with view on the pan and Lion passages at night ...
Nxai was nothing great but we really loved Baine's baobab (private) island too much, with bush fires all night that let us have some doubt in the morning (lot of smoke)
Night at Lekubu island is unforgottable, rocks / baobabs, sunset, stars, ... and the day after, we drive west on the pan to Gweta (all dry except at the end for about 2km ... muddy but OK, we follow the "local" road marks)
Kubu Lodge was nice as our chalets was far away with no noise, with a nice & cool day at the falls (not a lot of water, but still great).
Ihaha and Chobe river was among my favorite due to animals all around like hundreds of elephant on the pan and almost 1000 buffalo's ... wouaou ! also beautiful pan south of Savuti were we could pass the canal on south.
we had night visitors : elephant at kwai moving around as we had a lioness in 3rd Bridge ... and some local baboons ... without forget all these beautiful colored birds every day during our stay !!
Now we are full trained & experienced for Bush Braï (T-Bone/sausages/bacon/potatoes/corn) + wine and beers ... and Amarula .
Nice to discover that animals could be more peaceful and friendly, maybe not the crocodiles, but hippos were fine as well as rhinos in Kama rhino. As we were out of tourists season, we were almost alone in most of the campsites and can choose were to stay.
We did try to become "early birds" for game watching, but we could wake up and drive at 5 AM only a few times ... our usual timing was leaving camp at 7 AM and reach the next one near 4PM. So we miss the predators hunt but enjoy pachyderm baths.

Our trip to Botswana, organized by Andy, was truly a trip of a lifetime. Everything went smoothly and the trip was planned out perfectly. The Land Cruiser was great. We had everything we needed for the trip and felt safe and secure the entire time. We felt like we had a strong safety net with the sat phone that if anything went wrong, we would have someone there to help quickly.
Oddballs Enclave was amazing. We had a wonderful time on the bushwalks and learned a lot about Botswana, the Okavanga Delta, and the flora and fauna that live there. The staff were all very knowledgeable and a delight to share a meal with. Savuti was probably our favorite spot. There was a lot of privacy and plenty of opportunities to explore the area and animals without anyone else around. There we saw zebra, lions, giraffe, elephants, jackals, wild dogs....it was amazing! Ihaha was a great way to end the drive. We saw huge herds of buffalo, zebra, and impala. We witnessed a pack of about 10 wild dogs with 8 pups hunt three different impala right in front of our camp! We also say a pride of lionesses hunt down a warthog.
Botswana is an amazing country to visit and the combination of time in camps in the Delta and self-driving in Chobe made an absolutely incredible vacation. Highly highly recommended! Contact me with any questions (or to see some pics of our amazing adventure).

Having come back down to earth with a big bump we just wanted to say thank you so much for an amazing trip!! We had so much fun, some of the best days of our holiday. The car was outstanding, never had an issue with the sand and it was us that had to dig out 2 cars on the road to Linyanti! Ihaha campsite was a big highlight for us, huge herds of buffalo and zebra and we found a very handsome lion not far from the campsite. Savuti was also outstanding, we were lucky enough to have 4 sightings of leopard, amongst other big game. Andy organised a last minute trip for us and made it happen with the dates we had available and the budget. 5 nights camping was a taster that has left us longing for more, we could have carried on for weeks! Highly recommended and the service from Drive Botswana was outstanding. Roll on next time!

An excellent organised trip, superb knowledge of Botswana and Zambia that helped us prepare for the trip before we even left the UK.
Everything that was promised was delievered to perfection. Superb transfers that were on time and efficient. Everything ran smoothly. Accomodation was great value for money, especially in Botswana were the quality was excellent.
When you go on a holiday anywhere, especially Africa, you want to know that everything is looked after so all you need to do is enjoy your holiday. That's exactly what Drive Botswana do.
Couldn't have had a better time. Can't recommend Drive Botswana enough. Excellent. Thank you.

We made use of Andy's expertise for a tailor made trip through Botswana in Dec last year. He was fantastic to deal with, very organised, knowledgeable, accommodating and full of advice.
All the campsites we stayed at were great and the one lodge we booked was a welcome relief for 2 nights with the heat we experienced. All the day trips we booked were money well spent and his final documentation was delivered complete with maps, GPS co-ordinates, contact numbers etc etc - all very handy.
I highly recommend Andy and Drive Botswana and I'll definately use him again!

This is the second time we have utilised Drive Botswana to organise all of our ground arrangements in Southern Africa - a 4 week trip in 2010 and a 6 week trip in 2012. Andy provides expert knowledge and well organised itineraries - leaving you to simply pick up your vehicle and enjoy your 'trip of a lifetime'!
I would highly recommend Andy and his Drive Botswana team to help you organise your self drive trip in Southern Africa.

We had researched a lot before we booked our 3 week trip to Botswana and knew more or less where we wanted to go. Andy really helped with suggestions of places to stop and roads to take. It made booking so much easier.
Andy was also available on the couple of times we had hiccups with bookings (thankfully). Having visited Africa many times before we know this is par for the course.
We had a fantastic trip saw some amazing sights of people, places and wildlife. Including a lion kill in our camp at Savuti - and watching 3 cheetah hunt in the Central Kalahari GR. We loved the rooftop tent and the vehicle we had was top quality. We would probably camp more and lodge less next time as loved it.
We are now planning our next trip in 2013 and will definitely go to Drive Botswana for booking. Would not hesitate to recommend Drive Botswana to anyone thinking of visiting Botswana.
