The tour experience was UNBELIEVABLE ! what made me look past the occasional "getting lost" and the odd uncomfortable lodging was the people. I met some of the most interesting people on this tour and i am so sure we will stay in contact, which means i have something better than souvenirs to take back with me. NO REGRETS :) oh, my lactose intolerance wasn't really taken into account. i was given goats cheese as a replacement, which actually sometimes has MORE lactose than normal cheeses (why would they do that?) and my breakfast was more often than not a bowl of dry cereal, because the crew didn't provide and soy replacements for milk or yogurt.

This was the best adventure..... I had to head to london for other reasons so while i was there i decided to do a tour. Since i had never been overseas, i made sure i got to see as much as i could. Now i realise all those out there say tours are too fast, you'll be on a bus most of the time... plan your own holiday and spend time in each place etc. but i am not one for plodding around.. i didn't have time to pre-plan and i didnt want to being driving over there and i simply did not have a lot of time\annual leave.. and would not know when the next opportunity would come up to do this again.. i wanted to fit as much in as possible. It was quite easy to get around to what I wanted to see in each place with some good prior planning. The guide always gave us a map and top sights to see and information the day prior.. with this in hand.. it was easy to get to what i wanted to see (comfy shoes a must...). Mind you, if your one to spends hours at each sight and then sit for a long lunch in the middle.. of course, this is not for you, you simply won't get to see everything. Our tour guide was Martina and she was hilarious and so much fun.. not sure how she had energy every single day and she didn't just leave us of a night, was always out socialising and having a good time with us aswell. She had a passion for the sights and the history and told us things I would of missed seeing if i had tried to tour on my own. Jude was our bus driver and he was also amazing.. he had so much knowledge of the locations aswell.. as he used to be a tour guide.. he was always interesting to talk to and helped us with anything where he could (he even fixed my shoe). I was on this trip solo which i was a little worried about but it was fantastic to meet so many new people, everyone different, but a great mix of people. The bus journeys can be long.. but often broken up with games or movies.. breaks and to be honest we used them to catch up on a bit of sleep.. Accomodation was all Hostels which is fine with me.. we only went back to the room for sleep.. only one place was back and that was the A&O Hostel in Munich.. they initially gave a lot of us keys that didnt work, once mine was fixed, it was actually a key to someone elses room.. so they had to move us to another room.. And then later in the night we seem to be always in trouble when just trying to socialise.. not talking crazy loud.. sit and talk and only 10pm.. this was not Topdecks fault.. but hopefully they find a nicer place. Everywhere else was great.. had a ball.. food that was supplied was amazing, especially from the TopDeck tents\chefs ... omg.. that Risotto was to die for. I have not done any other tours before.. but i did my research of tour companies prior to this tour and found TopDeck.. as i had heard the background of Contiki and really wasnt interested. TopDeck is similar, in that it is similar age group and pretty much the same tour.. but it just had the added extras here and there.. and even though we had drinks most evenings and even some big nights.. it wasn't just a huge party.. our focus was still on the travel and sightseeing each day. Some groups along the way we met, spent entire days playing Beer Pong instead of heading out to see the sights.. was just a waste. I would recommend TopDeck to anyway.. and don't be affraid of the Hostel tour.. the Hostels are 99% really good to the point i would rate them better than a Hotel.. and lets face it.. if in Hotel, everyone retreats to their own rooms.. Cannot wait to travel again and I would be looking at TopDeck for that also..

The best 17 days of my life, that's for sure! So well organised, so easy not having to worry about getting to and from places etc but most importantly SO fun! Accommodation was great, as were the meals but what really made our tour was the people, and it wouldn't have been the same without our Topdeck driver and guide. They were both so knowledgeable about all the places we visited, giving us a great run down of the history, so enthusiastic (even on little sleep!) and even though they worked so hard during the day to make it the trip of a lifetime, they always made the effort to socialise with the group too. What surprised me the most was how fun they managed to make the long bus trips, with competitions, quizzes, award cermonies for the 'topdeck of the day' and more. One thing that really stood out for me was how they were always looking out to see that we were happy and comfortable - whether that meant checking the temperatureon the bus was okay, the music was the right volume.. you name it they were on to it. I remember one particularly rough day on the bus from Rome to Florence, we were all a little worse for wear (me in particular!) and they were so kind to me, offering me water and saying to let them know if I needed them to stop.. even though it was all self induced! The itinerary and optionals over the 17 days were just amazing, as were the organised parties and I know I'll always look back on this tour with the best memories ever. Thanks Topdeck, can't wait to travel with you again!

It was a lot of fun! I had a great time and the tour guide and bus driver were top notch! The only complaint I have was that I wish I had chosen a longer tour because I had such an amazing time. Definitely would do it all again.

I'm currently staying at the Burns Hotel so I'll have to make my way to the Clink Hostel on the morning of the 11th. Can somebody confirm which clink it is. I've got some conflicting info on my travel docs. Thanks :) and looking forward to meeting you all.
