Blazing Saddles began operation on 19th May 1997. Proprietor Michael Trout, a very experienced horse handler, relocated his half-day horse riding adventures from Mungalli Falls on the Atherton Tablelands, to Palm Cove which is an incredibly beautiful and diverse place only 20 minutes north of Cairns. On the 20th December 2005 he have moved again to a bigger and better ranch just west of Kuranda west of Cairns. A small family company starting out with only 20 trail horses has now blossomed into a totally professional outfit with over 60 horses and more than 16 staff members. All of our horses are wild Australian brumby descendants trained by Queensland’s most legendary horseman – Geoff Guest. Geoff is famously known for his pioneering work teaching wayward Aboriginal Youth horsemanship and other necessary cattle station skills. He did this alongside his wife Norma, using his own land and horses. Not only did this work help put hundreds of young people back on the right track, but it also enabled them to do good more directly by shaping the gentle temperaments of the horses we have at Blazing Saddles today Our horses are selected for each customer individually for their gentle nature and we have a wonderful choice of trail safe horses to suit any level, any size and (almost) any age. In fact we take riders as young as 4 years of age. Following the success of our horse riding tours, Blazing Saddles diversified into a Outback and rainforest adventure of another kind using ATV's (stands for All Terrain Vehicles) which are 4 wheel motor bikes also called Quad bikes. They began life as bubble wheeled farm vehicles but have been re-invented as the hottest new outdoor recreation vehicle in the world! It's no wonder as they are excellent fun!
