Questions & Answers
Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions.
How do I fly to Macedonia?
Macedonia has two airports: Skopje and Ohrid. Most airlines fly to Skopje, including the budget airline Wizzair with 28 flights to Skopje from all mayor European cities. Macedonia Travel is also IATA licensed agency and we can book and issue your flights to Skopje from any place in the world. Please feel free to ask for our best flight offer.
How safe is to travel to Macedonia?
If you ask the Macedonians, they will probably wonder why would you ask such thing? Macedonia is perfectly safe to travel everywhere: from urban areas to the extensive mountain ranges where you will probably feel like you have them for yourself. Just like in any other country there may be occasionally protests for different reasons: low wages, government elections, new urbanistic plan with less green parks in Skopje, etc. But if you have the slightest concern about safety in Macedonia, we suggest to read how many travelers in different travel portals have described this issue, or simply ask us!
How safe are your adventure tours?
Macedonia Travel has a developed Safety Management System in compliance with ISO 21101:2014 standards for Adventure Tourism which is implemented on our tours. This SMS covers general safety, emergency procedures, equipment and environmental impact.
What is the weather like in Macedonia?
May to October is an excellent time to visit, as it’s the warmest and driest part of the year. Average monthly temperature in the summer is 73 F/ 23 C, but a sweater may be needed in the evenings, especially if you are in the mountains. The winters are cold and snowy with average monthly temperature of 35 F/ 2C, especially in the North where the two major ski resorts are located.
How fit do I need to be to join your adventure tours?
The physical requirement for every trip can be different – please see the grading for each tour respectively. If you do have any questions about your ability to participate in the trip, please contact us and we will discuss it with you.
Do you accommodate specific dietary requirements?
Yes! If you are a vegetarian or vegan, or if you have any food allergy or specific dietary request please let us know and once you have booked we will need you to fill out our Medical & Diet form so we can arrange the menu for you.
What is the accommodation like on Macedonia Travel tours?
Our company policy is to support small local businesses whenever possible, so most of our accommodation is at small family hotels and guesthouses where you can also experience firsthand the local lifestyle and cuisine. It is also possible to upgrade to 4* and 5* hotels – subject to availability on our private tours.
Are there any discounts for group bookings?

I am traveling on my own. Can I join one of your tours?
