Arabian Adventure review
11th April 2013: Our guide had a very good knowledge about the area and history, but had a very bad time table. He didn't want to start earlier in the morning even thought the whole group asked him. So we really had to rush around, hardly had any time to enjoy the attractions and take our pictures. We couldn't even do the whole sceduled tour (e.g. didn't see the sinkhole at the omani coast). Never listened to want the group wants, his own mind always was more important to him.
Our driver was great, drove very safely! Was always helpful with the luggage and very polite. No complaints about him!
Accomadations differed a lot. Dessert camp was fun, enjoyed it. A guesthouse in Muscat? That's not STANDARD, but BASIC in my opinion. Had to change our room twice there (the first assigned was already given to somebody else, the second was stinking horrible!) - please find another hotel there! Shebel Jems was alright, but boring... to early there, nothing to do there! Muscat Hotel was fantastic!
I know G Adventures can do much better - has more energetic guides, who really care about the group, who listen to what the group wants, who try to make the trip as relaxed as possible. Amar didn't have any G spirit!

Egypt on a Shoestring review
19th March 2013: Previous to the tour I was already an Ancient Egypt fan so I had high expectations and they were more than met.
As the group was small we became like family and we got to see a lot of ancient sites and to experience all the different aspects of the Egyptian culture from the food and the social scene to the various modes of transport from the Egyptian Mercedes :) and the camels to the crazy Cairene drivers!
Our tour guide Khaled was fantastic, he made sure that we got to experience as much of Egypt as possible and was always available to answer any questions or to give the history behind each site or town. He dealt with any hiccups smoothly like when our train was cancelled he arranged flights so at no time did we experience any concern, we simply went with the flow.
If I had any slight negative it would be the long travelling hours, but of course this is necessary to visit all the various regions in such a vast country.
I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure, it was Meya Meya!! and have already begun recommeding it to friends and family.
I'm really looking forward to my next adventure with G, which will be my fourth!
Cheers,
Remona :)

Costa Rica Quest review
2nd March 2013: As I posted on Facebook:
Costa Rica. What I can say in a few words that pictures haven't already? The Costa Rica Quest tour was the best possible vacation at the most opportune time for Lori and I with lots of sun and warmth, from the climate and the people. It was relaxing yet with some good exercise and excitement in a beautiful country which is peaceful and ecologically conscious. Costa Rica has breathtaking scenery and wildlife, delicious food, fruit, beer, and coffee, and nice and helpful citizens, who are among the happiest anywhere and have an appreciation for the good life which they sum up succinctly: “Pura Vida!” We enjoyed: a nature hike near Arenal volcano; a boat ride on Lake Arenal; crossing hanging bridges and zip lining (yes even Superman-style and the Tarzan swing) in the rain forest and and at the top of the canopy; soaking up the sun on a Pacific Ocean beach; and, one of the world's most amazing ecosystems, including white-faced monkeys, crocodiles, macaws, sloths, and tarantulas. But most important we had the pleasure of traveling with a diverse group of wonderful people. Our new friends hail from the UK, Canada, Germany, Sweden, and yeah that state to the south of us. ;^D We represented many different backgrounds, but we all shared an interest and appreciation for each other and our new experiences and surroundings. So this is also a shoutout and thank you to all of you for helping to make this trip the best we've ever enjoyed: Rick and Jean; Lotten and Jens; Louise, Ian, and Jon; Tonya; Martin; Jana; Cait'lin; Natalie; Noosha; and, Preetam. Of course, we couldn't have done it without our friendly and adept Tican group leader, Eugenio Quesada. He made us feel welcome, watched out for us every waking moment (and probably some when we were sleeping), educated and catered to us, and endured some hardships of his own with endless humor, patience, and passion. I hope we will all keep in touch and continue to share our experiences and lives as we did for those 9 days. Salud and, yes, Pura Vida!

Southern Cross review
2nd March 2013: the tour was excellent, will be remembered for the rest of my life. The places, people in all 3 countries were amazing. it was really 3 tours, back to back, in Peru, Pablo our guide was friendly, excellent, loved to show his country, participated with the group, when young people went out to clubs at night, would walk them home if they came home before the rest of the group, kept an eye out for everyones safety, excellent: in Bolivia, Sole' was so proud of her country, wanted us to get to see and experience all of the great places there, when in Sucre, it was Carnival and many places were closed, she arranged for us to team up with a local restraunt for bbq, hire a band and dance through the street, huge water fight, one of the highlights of trip:) ; in Brazil, all of the places were amazing, the Pantanal, from Bonito to Rio we were able to relax with the hotter weather and water activities to enjoy, our guide, Fernanda took dropped the ball compared to the other guides, she seemed to be more interested in herself than helping the group, we went to many dinners without her, she was interested in striking up a romantic relationship with a guest on a different G tour, Craigwith Gadventures helped us our a few times when Fernanda was not available. Overall this trip will be one of the highlights of my vacations. John Moslin

Vietnam on a Shoestring review
12th February 2013: Really disappointed when I arrived at my tour and found out that it was one leg of a bigger tour - so nearly all of the other members of the group had already had time to bond and make friendships before I got there. This made the atmosphere and environment really hard to get into socially.
Also, it meant that most of the other people in the group had already travelled for a bit and so most we're kind tired by Vietnam and didn't want to do many activities, because they couldn't be bothered, they just wanted an easy day etc. I learnt that if I wanted to have a good time, I had to do things by myself quite often. It made me wonder why I paid for a group experience in the first place. I understand on an a tour, nobody may like to do the things that you want to, but it seemed that the fact that the other members had already been travelling is what stopped them from getting involved. Tour members that have already been travelling had different needs and wants to myself.
Furthermore, while I was only travelling in Vietnam, the other members had just come from experiencing Cambodia. So I was often subject to 'Cambodia is so much cheaper/prettier/better'. I loved Vietnam and my experience there, but it was a downer to hear all this negativity.
My arrival could have been better organised so that my tour guide was aware that I was arriving after the meet-up time, and that a message was left for me on arrival (so I don't spend 30 mins freaking out that I'm in Saigon and not knowing whether I was included in the tour or not). I did contact g adventures on facebook about this issue during the time I was concerned, and although I received the reply after the matter was resolved in person, I was really pleased by response time and the manner in which my concern was addressed.
My tour guide received three stars because he was fine, however I wish he would have been more enthusiastic. Sometimes I might ask questions about certain activities/hotels etc and he would answer as if he didn't care.
It really just seemed that he was apathetic about whether we had a good experience or not. The night before my last full day in Hanoi, I was trying to discuss with the tour leader which of two activities I should do as I only had time for one, and he said 'Just do what you want' and after I persisted in trying to get his advice, because I didnt want to end up doing one activity that sucked, and hear how great the other was, he said something about how the things I was saying was rude so to stop talking. This floored me, because I was just talking about the advantages and disadvantages of actvities - if I had said something offensive, I had no intention to do so - but I ended up feeling embarrassed and ashamed - oh, and this was at a dinner, so I felt ashamed in front of the group which wasn't great.
Otherwise my tour leader was really knowledgeable about all the different cities and could give some fascinating information and good advice at times. He also created a fun and humourous atmosphere in the group and he organised everything very well.
Lastly, there is one concern I had. In Hue, I went out with most members of the group, and our tour leader, after dinner. I decided to go home earlier than the others, and being drunk with a impaired sense of judgement, I decided to walk back to the hotel by myself. At about 1:30 AM. I'm not fantastic at reading a map sober, so I got lost for a while trying to find my way back using the tiny map on the back of the hotel card (I couldn't find any taxis at this time to take me back.)
I am so relieved that I got back to the hotel safely, but concerned that this happened. Now this was a decision I made on my own, I only told one person that I was going home. I, in no way want my tour leader reprimanded for not ensuring I got back safe, because he wasn't aware I left (although he didn't ask me about it later, so it seemed he must have realised I had left by myself, but not about how I got back). This was because I was drunk and made a bad decision. However I doubt I am the first and last person to have poor judgement on one of your tours. Perhaps there needs to be some sort of plan in place for going-out situations. Or drum into group members to look out for other members (not that other members were selfish, but they might have been more aware had g adventures really emphasised the idea of looking out for one another at night etc). This was the only instance in which I felt safety was an issue, I never felt unsafe in any other part of the tour.
While I'm glad that I did this trip for the experience of travelling Vietnam, I do not believe I would do a tour again. This tour was great in that I am an inexperienced traveller so everything was organised for me and I as I was on my own, I had the safety of a group environment to experience Vietnam and learn about travel. However, as strange as it sounds, I found a tour group experience to be lonely at times when not travelling with family or friends from home. I also was really unimpressed about being part of a bigger tour and the problems this created, as I mentioned earlier (and this is the reason I wouldn't recommend this tour). So in future, I would prefer to travel with somebody I know and save money by researching and organising things myself beforehand. I did get this tour on sale, so I don't mind all that much, and thought that at this price it would have been worth it. Had it been the normal price I would have been really disappointed with the value for money.
