Bamba Experience commented on this review
Hello Joshua, We’re sorry you found that our services disappointing. Our team did their best to fix the situation that arose from you taking the wrong bus on the first day, then going to another different city than the ones on your route. As explained already, the services you paid also include the quality-checking of the agencies that do have cheaper prices locally since they don’t have to pay for the international charges we deal with. We believe the refund we sent you is quite considerable, taking into account the services were provided. We have thousands of travellers who have no problems with taking the arranged shuttles. It is explained on the site that we offer a Self-Guided tour for independent travellers and which services are included. We’re sorry that you were unsatisfied with the services that we arranged for you since it was not what you were looking for. Take care, Rene/The Bamba Happiness Team

About Bamba Experience

Bamba was set up in 2005 by independent travellers who noticed from first-hand experience that there was a lack of affordable options for independent travelers wanting to explore the world on their own terms. Bamba also wanted to make travelling independently easier. Many people want to be adventurous but due to a lack of information or mis-information created by the media, they often have fears or prejudices about destinations, which in turn create barriers to travel. With each country and society working slightly differently, Bamba has created a range of products to break down these barriers.   Bamba aims to make it easy to travel to off the beaten path destinations, and allow them to enjoy and experience unique locations.  Everyone that works for Bamba is an independent traveler so understands the customers’ requirements. This ensures that Bamba understands its customer and provides them with the very best experience adventures. Bamba is now the fastest growing adventure travel provider in the industry. This success is built upon the unrivalled variety of experiences it has to offer and the amazing customer service it provides.

The Bamba Experience Travel Styles

Self-Guided Adventures

There’s no tour leader to follow around on these adventures, only local guides for each included activity. You will travel independently on a fixed itinerary with prebooked public transportation, activities and accommodation. Take advantage of some free time to go explore at your own pace. Choose to stay overnight in hostels, 3-star, or 4-star hotels.

Small Group Adventure:

These small group adventures include great local guides, all of your transportation, accommodation, and some meals. They give you the chance to move around more easily, step off the beaten path, and immerse yourself in the local culture. You’ll usually share your trip with no more than 12 like-minded travellers, though the average group size is often lower.

Hop-on Hop-off Passes

Travellers looking for a flexible way to travel, with no fixed schedules, can choose from our many open-dated Hop-On Hop-Off Passes all around the world. These passes include all public transportation and handpicked experiences along a set route of your choice with flexible schedules. All you have to do is decide on the route that suits you best, depending on where you want to go and how much time you want to travel!

Questions & Answers

Here we have collected and answered the most frequently asked questions.

  • Is accommodation included in the Hop-on Hop-off passes?

For Hop-On Hop-Off Passes, accommodation is not included because we want to give travellers the flexibility to stay as long as they wish in each destination. Bamba provides you with a list of recommended accommodation in each destination so you can choose where to stay.

  • What transportation is included in the Hop-on Hop Off pass?

Depending on the route or activity, you may be travelling by bus, boat, train, airplane, shuttle van, bicycle, canoe or even on foot… (you get the idea). On the trip of a lifetime, you may find yourself sitting next to a local on a public bus or riding in an air-con shuttle, bumping along in a motorised canoe or going by foot… the possibilities are endless! Whatever the mode of transportation, getting from one point to the next will surely be a memorable experience.

  • What is a bus tour adventure?

Bus tours offer a cheap way to visit touristic sites. You will usually be travelling with a large group by bus, on a fixed schedule. Most of these tours only include bus transportation and accommodation, entrance fees and activities must be paid locally. These are independent tours accompanied by a tour coordinator who will organise the tour but not guide you.

  • What to expect on a small group adventure?

They give you the chance to move around more easily, step off the beaten path, and immerse yourself in the local culture. You’ll usually share your trip with no more than 12 like-minded travellers, though the average group size is often lower.

  • Who will I be travelling with?

Most of our trips cater to the adventurous independent traveller. In fact, many of our travellers arrive on their own and they quickly find that they easily meet like-minded people along the way at their hostels, on transportation, or during activities.
Regarding transportation, depending on the route, you might find yourself travelling on a public bus side by side with locals while at other times, you’ll take a tourist shuttle.

  • Do I need a visa?

Bamba recommends that you check the visa requirements at the appropriate embassies for your nationality at least 2-3 months in advance so you will have time to prepare your documents. Remember to make sure you have a valid passport with at least 2 empty visa pages and a minimum 6-months validity before travelling.
