  • Visit the Aegean Maritime Museum in Mykonos between 10:30am and 1pm or between 6pm and 9pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
  • Do try some ouzo spirit which you can order at one of Santorini’s authentic tavernas.
  • Perissa and Agios Georgios beaches have the best nightlife in Santorini whereas Monolithos is preferred by families.
  • Dress modestly while visiting traditional neighbourhoods around Istanbul’s Old Town area.
  • It is permitted to go topless but inappropriate to go completely naked inside a Turkish hamam.
  • Try some strong, black ‘cay’ (tea) served in tulip shaped glasses before you leave Turkey.
  • Sample traditional Turkish fare such as ‘kofte’ (meatballs made of minced lamb), succulent kebabs and a dessert called ‘Lokum’ that is made from dates, honey and rose petals.
