3 Day Uluru Safari customer review
reviewed 3 Day Uluru Safari
22nd August 2013
"I came back yesterday from a 3 day Uluru Safari and I am very hungry and disappointed, the tour was quite a scam! We were mixed with other tour of adventure tour so I didn't see what I payed for!! First day we only had a 30 minutes walk in the Valley of the winds in kata tujia, whereas I expected (as I read on the plan) a 8km hike!!!! During the travel from Alice Spring to Yulara (our camp) that are 600km Nick, the guide, stopped the bus every hour for 20 minutes in a bar,or a farm, and so go on instead of do only 1 stop (as the plan told in the shabby camel farm full of sufferers animals) and arrive quickly in time to have our hike around Uluru (as written in the plan I payed for!) Nick was always in a hurry and you see he doesn't like the place and do tour guide! When you ask him something he is always annoyed! Second day, after looking the sunrise on Uluru(that wasn't written on plan, and we have already seen the sunset the day before) we had only 1h walk on a quarter part of Uluru, an interesting aboriginal guided walk (this was very good) and then, only 20 minutes to visit the cultural centre! At twelve o clock Nick said we had to come back for lunch! nobody could visit the aboriginal centre satisfactorily or buy something at the shop! in my opinion we could eat a sandwich in Uluru and so have time to walk all around it! Whereas we had came back to the camp to have lunch, travel to reach kings canyon camp at 18.00 pm and there Nick said: "now stay here in this pub for 75 minute that we must prepare the camp" Third day at kings canyon was good,we had the 6km hike in kings canyon although our guide NICK was always in a hurry! Maybe you don't understand that for most af all this was the unique chance to come visit australia in our life and receive what a person payed for is really important. The bus was really good! The tents in the camp are good but inside there is only a fan instead of a little stove for winter nights,in fact we sleeped with 2 pullover and the winter hat and however was really cold!! Meals are good."

9 Day 4WD Broome to Darwin
18th August 2013
"This 9 day Adventure Tour from Broome to Darwin is fine if you are a backpacker, under the age of 30 and don't mind a bit of dust & dirt (well, actually, quite a lot) doing a fair bit of physical work & recreation, and being treated like a camp school teenager. Sadly, on our trip, the majority were aged over 30 ( with many being over 50, and some Danish folk who were in their mid 70s), and nearly all were spoken to by Ben, the driver-guide, in a condescending, disrespectful manner. This, and some other Unsavoury/unprofessional behavior nearly spoilt what is a well-planned trip to this amazing part of the world. The bus is great, being purpose built for the many hundreds of km on corrugated dirt roads. The air conditioning worked really well, too. However the swags that one slept in every night were old and/or too thin for a decent night's sleep, especially after a day of hiking in fantastic gorges in the heat. The containers holding food and cutlery were grimy and full of dirt, and not once did the guide recommend that those preparing the food (usually 3 or 4 fellow passengers) wash their hands or use hand santiser before handling the food. It would appear from a quick review on tripadvisor that the attitude and non-verbal (as well as verbal communication) of our guide is not an isolated incident, and perhaps some of the guides need to be educated about customer service, something like aussie host training. As a member of the tourism industry myself, I am appalled by what I witnessed, and as such I could not recommend adventure tours Australia or western exposure. I was not alone in my disgust, but unfortunately when it came time to complete the evaluation form at the end of the tour, most passengers I spoke with afterwards were not honest, and gave no critical feedback. Perhaps this was because their evaluation form was not anonymous (ie, name and address details were requested at the top of the page) AND more than likely because the forms were to be handed back to the guide....who may or may not pass them on to their manager anyway."

Operator's comment: Thank you for providing this feedback. We take this kind of thing very serious already process are in place to follow up on the points you have mentioned above. Our guides are the face of our organisation and receive comprehensive training before leading their own tours. We will definitely be investigating your comments further to ensure that this situation does not happen again. We can appreciate how important a good guide can be to an overall tour and as such will be looking into this in detail. Adventure Tours is committed to providing unforgettable positive experiences to our passengers and we appreciate hearing first-hand areas where we can improve. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.
