Busabout Iberian Adventure, 13th August 2011

Reviewed 25th August 2011
My next Busabout adventure started in the common room at MAD Hostel in Madrid, when our group all meet for the first time before embarking on Busabout Iberian Adventure! If you’re looking for a week of amazing history, architecture, great tapas, flamenco dancing and Sangria then look no further you have found your perfect trip! Our guide Marisa (Maria) passion of the Iberian is oozing from her pours, her infectious smile beams from her like one of those solar water heating things on the side of the road, as she would let us know the history of the region as we make our way to any of our destinations. What is particularly great about this trip is the way the bus trips are broken up with our lunch day trips in areas like Cordoba, as we cover the KMs needed to make it around the south of Spain and Portugal! Oh did I mention Portugal …. Look out Busabout is coming to Lagos! Make no mistake, while the place is full of beautiful beaches and buildings, we are here to party. The pub crawl on the first night is a blast, commit the 9 deadly sins, join the bomb squad, share a fish bowl or just sit back and watch, this was one of the best nights out I have had in my life. Its here I pass on my thanks to our driver Paul (Pablo) for introducing me to Portuguese hospitality. This is where the new Busabout family really bonded! The next morning after your Portuguese breakfast half the group broke off for an optional kayaking trip, exploring the local grottos and coast line, or just relax on the beach. The next day is the biggest day of them all, Marisa could hardly contain herself as she explains to the family that we would be going to 3 countries and 2 continents in a day, as we make our was to the beautiful wee surf town of Tariffa. Its here we jumped the ferry to Morocco. Local foods, markets and camel rides, this day was such a great taste of Moroccan culture. Next stop Granada! Tapas crawl anyone? I didn’t have any expectations of this city and fell in love. Tapas, Sangria, Flamenco dancing, the Alhambra palace and Turkish baths. This could be one of my favourite places in the world. Then it’s back to Madrid, where our latest Busabout family part ways! I don’t know if I have ever been on a tour where the group had bonded as well as this one had, it was really sad to say goodbye to my new family. The bonding of the group was in large parts thanks to Marisa and Paul. They really worked well as a team to see the group get together. All the hostels we stayed at were clean and comfortable, and the Busabout Bus was beautiful and roomy. This is a great way of seeing the parts of Spain we normally only ever hear about in magazines and travel books. 7 days well spent and you certainly get your money worth! Get amongst it!

Busabout Ottoman Trek, 25th June 2011

Reviewed 22nd July 2011
This tour was amazing. Our tour guide, Matej, was very knowledgable and entertaining. The countries we went through were so friendly and beautiful, especially Bosnia and Turkey. If anyone does this tour, please try all the food and get out and go for a walk around in your spare time. Facebook can wait. We found a few hills to climb to get a better view of the cities, such as Sarajevo and Plovdiv. Tips for anyone taking this tour. - Make sure you take a book or two to read on the bus and a small pillow. - If you know any games to play on the bus, tell the rest of the group and play! - Eastern Europe's staple diet is meat so vegetarians, let your tour guide know when you are on the bus. He will look after you. - Finally, have FUN!!!! dont be afraid to experience what these countries have to offer, as you never know what you may come across.

Busabout Greek 4 Island Flexi-Hopper, 18th June 2011

Reviewed 8th July 2011
Just got back from the Greek Islands tour which exceeded all my expectations. As we spent a few extra days in Mykonos and Ios we had 4 different tour guides over the entire trip. Without these amazing guides the trip would of not been the same. All the activities that were recommended by Busabout were worth while especially the boat trip in Paros and the Bucketlist in Santorini. Already missing the Islands and the amazing friends I have made. I would definitely recommend the greek islands for anyone where additional days in Santorini and Ios is a necessity. Already looking forward to booking with Busabout in the near future.

Busabout Greek 4 Island Flexi-Hopper, 20th April 2011

I will never book with busabout again. They changed the date of my tour without telling me, took no responsibility for it and as such I had to pay an additional $1000 to cover costs of changing flights and bookings for other tours. Absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of my time and money.

Busabout Greek 4 Island Flexi-Hopper, 3rd June 2010

Reviewed 24th June 2010
I went on the Greece 4 Island FlexiHopper and I loved it. We had a group made up of Aussies, Kiwis, Canadians and Americans and we all got along incredibly well. The days were jammed packed with activities and siteseeing and the nights were filled with great meals, fantastic company and even better drinks. Our guide Dave was top notch. I've been on numerous group travel trips and Dave is my favourite tour manager yet. He was knowledgeable, personable and more fun then I could ever imagine. I felt like we've been best mates forever. My favourite activity on the tour was the booze cruise in Paros. The views were gorgeous, the captain made you feel at home, it was tons of fun to dance out in the middle of the ocean and swim in remote locations, and the BBQ with homemade wine was very tasty. If you're planning on taking this trip, I have two suggestions. First, if you're a woman, do not pack high heels. The Greek islands are all cobblestone and the terrain is not level. A nice pair of gladiators or flats are ideal. Second, make sure you book extra days in Ios. I did and my only regret is that I only stayed four days and not more. Ios is party central and you really do owe it to yourself to have extra days and nights in such a crazy place. I had an incredible trip and I definitely recommend it.

Busabout Paris Christmas, 24th December 2009

Reviewed 14th January 2010
Thursday 24th December 2009 My first day of holiday was an early rise to make it in time for check in from 7:15, at the Busabout headquarters in Victoria, London. With a group of over 40 people, 7:30 sharp we were ready to hit the road to Dover, UK. The guide introduced himself and gave us a bit of inside track and history of Paris. After mostly sleeping on the bus, everyone was happy to mingle on the ferry, crossing the channel to Calais, France. The approximate 1.5 hours was enough to stock up on coffee, brunch and the necessary shopping in the duty free shops. We reached Calais, France at about 12:30 (GMT +1:00). The snow was still thick in the country side and a bit fog on the road. We made a 20 minute pit stop to make it in good time at our accommodation, St Christopher's in Paris. Most people did not waste too much time freshening up for a welcome drink, that was followed by dinner. After dinner we were back on the bus for the guide's own 'Paris by night' tour, taking in all the sights the great city has to offer. The bus made a stop at the Eiffel Tower and in time for the light show. We had to wait 20 minutes before our group could head up. All the entrepreneurs trying to sell souvenirs was more overwhelming than the rain at that time. The view from the middle was colourful with all the lights from Paris. Unfortunately, right at the top we ended up in a cloud, with absolutely nothing to see half a meter away. Friday, 25 December 2009 Xmas day! Clear blue sky! After a quick breakfast for me, it was time to get out and about in the breathtaking city. First we head out to the Chateau de Versailles for a wander around the spectacular gardens and a mid-morning snack. After Versailles I decided to have a wonder along Avenue de Champs. From The Obelisk of Concord, through all the Christmas markets, making a u-turn at the Arc de Triomphe. After sunset, dinner at St Christopher's was a traditional roast meal (including Foie gras) and all the trimmings. Not long after the Christmas dinner, armed with a couple bottles of wine, we head through the little streets of Montmartre filled with artists and restaurants. From there we had to climb a (great) few steps up Montmartre hill to get a closer look at Sacre Coeur. The Sacre Coeur looked amazing with the spot lights over the famous white finish. From the front of Sacre Coeur, a great view of Paris can be seen. Saturday, 26 December 2009 After a few baguettes and strong coffees it was time for the day's itineraries to start. I jumped on a Fat Tire bike and experienced Paris in a pack of over 40 bikes through streets and parks of central Paris. The tour guide has been living in Paris for over 8 years and had a great knowledge of the history of the city and other interesting stories to go with the scenery. All the bikes were parked for lunch in Tuileries Gardens. Then we head off with our bikes to board a river boat to see Paris from the water. Passing places such as the Grand Palais, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Louvre Museum, Saint Chapelle and Notre Dame. By late afternoon we dropped off the bikes and there was a little bit of time to stray off the pack. 'The National Lampoons Louvre Trip in 60 Minutes' had to fill this gap. With limited time we had to make a bit of a run through the Denon and Sully area to capture at least the most popular pieces; Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and The Winged Victory of Samothrace. The evening was topped of by dinner at a local French restaurant Le Marmite. The onion soup (with a layer of cheese on top and pieces of french bread underneath) is highly recommended! Sunday, 27 December 2009 Au revoir, Paris!

If you want to see Italy in between other countries, or only have a short bit of time to go to Italy, and are on a tight budget, this tour is for you.  If you have a longer time to spend in Italy, you may want to begin your journey with this tour, just to aquaint yourself with some of the culture. Tour guide (at least mine) was extremely friendly and helpful. Accomodations are average, I reccommend upgrading to at least the camper. Southern Italy is beautiful, and this tour takes you to some of the most beautiful places there.  You will fall in love with Southern Italy, and not want to leave!

The Italian Adventure was a great way to get a snap shot of Southern Italy. I definately found those little spots that I would love to come back to one day. Our guide was fantastic, she knew all the history of the area and had great little facts along the way to keep us entertained. Accommodation was average but met all requirements and there was an upgrade available. When you head over to Capris...definately hire a cabriolet taxi coming back down, the ride & the music were great as was the scenery.
