Anderson Tours Germany Rhineland Bank Holiday, 28th May 2011

Reviewed 1st June 2011
I spent the May Spring Bank Holiday on the German Rhineland Trip which was truly magical. Departing early on Saturday morning, we travelled to Dover for a ferry crossing to Calais and then proceeded onwards through Belgium and Germany, arriving at the hotel in the early evening. On Sunday we went on a scenic cruise of the Rhine from Boppard, known as the 'Pearl of the Rhine', passing numerous turreted castles and the legendary Lorelei rock, from which sirens were said to have lured unsuspecting sailors to their fate. An on-board commentary pointed out the highlights along the river during this scenic journey. We then travelled by coach along the banks of the Rhine through rolling hills with vineyards and picturesque villages towards the world-renowned wine village of Rudesheim to visit a traditional wine-cellar where we had the opportunity to taste the delicious local wines. We were then free to explore at leisure the town and its most famous street, the Drosselgasse, which is lined with Weinstuben, restaurants and shops. We stayed at a friendly, family-run hotel, the Zur Alten Post, in Bad Salzig in the Rhine valley area. Guests were accommodated in rooms with private facilities, and accommodation was offered in either the main building or its nearby annexe just across the road. We were able to take full advantage of the famous hospitality of the Rhine and Moselle regions, and enjoyed half-board accommodation at the hotel with breakfast and a three-course dinner. The hotel bar was opern for us to enjoy a glass or two of local wine, a refreshing beer or soft drinks of our choice. On Monday, alas it was time to bid our hosts "auf Wiedersehen" and return to London, arriving back at our original departure points by eleven. We stopped en route in the historic Belgian town of Ghent where we enjoyed the local fayre, frites mayonnaise, waffles and chocolates. This was a truly magical trip and Germany certainly lived up to its reputation of "Wein, Weib und Gesang".

Anderson Tours Stonehenge and Bath, 8th September 2010

Reviewed 30th January 2011
This is a bit late, as I thought I had already posted feedback, but stupid me, did not. We did this day trip whilst on holiday from Australia. This trip was brilliant. Firstly, we, (2 of us), joined the coach at the first pick up point at London Dungeon bus stop, so we also got a "free' tour of a lot of London whilst going to other pick ups. I wish I could remember the guides name, but unfortunately can't. He was excellent in that he supervised passengers well, but did nor rave on and on with the coach PA system the whole trip which was nice. He was very informative though on the aspects that needed to be covered. The coach driver, Antonio, was also fantastic. As an ex traffic cop I am always observant of other drivers, especially when I am the passenger. Antonio's driving could not be faulted. I even stopped "being mean" (only kidding), and observing him after a very short time, as it was obvious that he was a very competent, and safe driver, and also a considerate driver to other road users. It was also great to hear him getting traffic reports on the radio the way back to London and as we all know, it is usually better to get off the coach early at the tube station and catch the train instead of being stuck in peak traffic in London in the afternoon. The whole experience of Stonehenge and Bath was well organised and plenty of time in Bath to do what you like after visiting the Roman Baths. How anyone could miss the coach back after having so much free time, and being told what time to be back to leave is beyond me. (2 people were left behind and it was their own fault). But all in all a great day out, might be routine for the staff, but will be long remembered by participants, many who commented how good it was. Well done!! Brian Bownds Brisbane Australia

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the Isle of Wight, the stroll along the beach was rather chilly though. This tour was a good value for money. We will certainly be using Anderson Tours again.
