Stunning intro to Africa This trip was my real introduction to Africa and wildlife. I had been to Kenya on a biz trip and just saw the wildlife in the park outside Nairobi, but being at Madikwe (near the Botswana Border) was just.... incredible. First off, this is the most luxurious adventure I've ever done. If you're looking for budget, this is not the right company to travel with. If you are looking for incredible experiences in the day and then an absolutely fabulous place to have dinner and evenings- then this is the company. While they have lodges all over, this is specifically about Madikwe Lodge. We hired a car and drove in from J-burg (4.5 hours) which was an experience- just coming thru the gate and getting to the lodge we must have seen 10 varieties of big animals just in that 30 minutes. We saw antelopes, waterbuck, rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, warthogs, foxes, huge varieties of birds, a cheetah and then the capper was an amazing experience with a ROARING male lion. Absolutely stunning. STUNNING. The lodge is beautiful, the food and service 5 star. The guide was very knowledgeable and even when we were having quiet periods of driving through the bush, he was giving us fascinating information and working hard to show us the best. It was a top notch experience I hope to repeat some day.
