Trip Description:

Join our April departure to spend Anzac Day in Gallipoli and attend the Dawn Service.

Experience pyramids and temples, the amazing lost city of Petra, the eerie beauty of Cappadocia, the ruins of Ephesus, the WW1 battle fields of Gallipoli and much more on our Oasis Caravan.

This trip costs £725 plus £270 local payment.

This trip also runs in reverse from Cairo to Istanbul.

Days 1 to 6

Turkey

• Istanbul - an exciting and cosmopolitan city - visit the Aya Sofya Mosque, Topkapi Palace & the Grand Bazaar to name but a few.

• Gallipoli - we visit the battlegrounds and war graves of Commonwealth & Turkish forces that fought here in WW1. Each year on ANZAC Day Australians and New Zealanders pay their respects to fellow countrymen who died here.

• Troy - site of the legendary city.

• Ephesus - built by the Greeks a thousand years before Christ and then rebuilt by the Romans. Visit the 24000 seat amphitheatre and the harbour with no water.

Days 7 to 12

• Olu Deniz - explore islands by boat, para-sailing, snorkelling & seriously good beach time!

• Saklikent Gorge - an opportunity to go river tubing!

• Olympos - relax on the beach & hike up to view the eternal flames.

• Cappadoccia - over the centuries, houses, churches, fortresses and even underground cities have been carved into the eerily eroded volcanic rock landscape.

Days 13 to 16

Syria

• Aleppo - wander the narrow alleyways of the souk in this market town.

• Palmyra - an oasis town in the desert, the ruins of one of Rome's eastern most outposts.

• Crac de Chevaliers - an 800-year-old Crusader Castle, perched high on top of a mountain.

Days 17 to 18

• Damascus - the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. During its history the Egyptians, Romans, Babylonians and Persians have passed through as well as Jesus and his disciples!

Days 19 to 24

Jordan

• Madaba - home of the oldest known map of the Holy Land.

• Mt. Nebo - Moses' final resting place.

• Dead Sea - the lowest point on Earth! Indulge in relaxing mud baths and an unusual swimming experience in this highly buoyant salt sea.

• Petra - explore this ancient city, carved from rock in a deep ravine with towering sandstone cliffs.

• Wadi Rum desert - you can take a 4WD jeep safari with Bedouin guides to explore the site of Lawrence of Arabia's secret base. Camp overnight in spectacular desert scenery.

• Aqaba - catch the ferry across the Red Sea.

Days 25 to 31

Egypt

• Dahab - 3 days to snorkel or scuba dive in the Red Sea, windsurf, wake board, water ski, or relax on the beach.

• Sinai Desert - an option to visit St. Catherine's Monastery and climb Mt. Sinai.

• Cross underneath the Suez Canal.

• Hurghada - on the Red Sea.

• Luxor - we visit the Valley of the Kings and there is also an option to visit Valley of the Queens and Workers, Queen Hatshepsut's Temple and Karnak Temple.

Days 32 to 36

• Aswan - you have the opportunity to visit the great monuments at Abu Simbel as well as a number of temples and tombs on the Nile.

• Nile River - two days sailing in a traditional felucca sailboat from Aswan to Luxor.

• Overnight train to Cairo.

Day 37

Cairo

• Visit the Pyramids and Sphinx and the Egyptian History Museum - Egyptologist Guide and entrance fees included.
