Walk on the 9:35 ferry in Seattle (Pier 52 - 801 Alaskan Way) to start your tour. Enjoy a ride on the largest ferry system in the United States and enjoy a scenic trip across Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island. Enjoy views of the Seattle skyline, marine traffic, the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges including majestic Mount Rainier. Keep a look out for wildlife including whales! (See directions to the Seattle ferry terminal below)
We will pick you up just outside the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal or see the reservation form for other pick-up locations.
We start with a tour of the Winslow downtown area of Bainbridge Island where you will have the option to explore more at the end of the tour. We tour some island neighborhoods and enjoy views looking back at Seattle as we make our way to the Agate Pass Bridge and cross to the Kitsap Peninsula.
We will visit Suquamish, home of Chief Seattle and the Suquamish Tribe. We will stop at Chief Seattle's gravesite and visit the Suquamish Museum to learn more about the history of the areas first occupants.
A winding drive along the shore of Liberty Bay will take us to Poulsbo, a quaint town founded by Norwegian fishermen and farmers on the shore of the fijord-like Liberty Bay. We'll have an extended stop in Poulsbo for some shopping and exploring or you can get out on the water with an optional tour on an electric boat* (sign-up on reservation form) or exploring in a kayak.
(*Electric boat tours are optional; guided tours in 12 passenger electric boats on Liberty Bay. We have a high probability of seeing wildlife, especially harbor seals. You'll enjoy views of waterfront homes, Poulsbo from the water and up close views of the marinas and marine traffic.)
Poulsbo will also be our lunch stop where you can select from the many restaurants within a few blocks.
Driving through the countryside of Big Valley we will head to Port Gamble, a New England inspired timber town settled in the 1850's and still a company owned town and National Historic site. You will have time to explore the town and both the Port Gamble Historic Museum and the Shell Museum.
Heading back to the ferry you will have four options to complete your tour:
Leave the tour at the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort where you can enjoy some gaming, dining and entertainment or spend the night at the waterfront hotel. Resort staff will take you to the ferry when you are ready to return to Seattle. Ask about concert nights on the waterfront!
Get off in the Winslow area of Bainbridge Island where you can shop and dine your way along Winslow Way and the surrounding side streets. Work your way to the ferry to return to Seattle whenever you please.
Return to the ferry dock in time to take the 4:30 PM ferry back to Seattle in time for your evening plans.
Too soon to leave? Don't. Extend your stay at one of Bainbridge Island's hotels, inns or B&Bs. We will be happy to suggest locations within walking distance of the ferry or where transportation is offered by the establishment.
