Detailed Itinerary:

 

Days 1-2 Cairo

Travel to Egypt and navigate the busy streets of Cairo city. Head out on camelback to behold the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza before discovering Tutankhamun's treasures at the Egyptian Museum.

Days 3-4 Aswan

Climb aboard an overnight train ride from Cairo to Aswan. Pick up a souvenir in the chaotic bazaar, visit a Nubian village and enjoy a home-cooked traditional meal with a local family.

Day 5

Cruise Egypt's iconic Nile River on a memorable felucca ride. Settle in on the deck and be rocked gently to sleep as the boat bobs under a starry night sky.

Days 6-7 Luxor

Take a donkey ride to the fields close to the Valley of the Kings near Luxor. In free time, explore the monumental Karnak temples before boarding an overnight train.

Day 8 Cairo

Travel back to Egypt's capital. Uncover peaceful Coptic Cairo before moving on to the vibrant spiritual heart of the Islamic Cairo district.

Day 9 Mt Sinai

Head east to the famous monastery of St Catherine, nestled at the base of Mt Sinai. Climb to the summit of this mystical mountain and be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding moon-like desert.

DAys 10-11 Red Sea Beach Camp

Explore the grounds of St Catherine's before travelling to the Red Sea coast. Golden sands, balmy beaches and simple beach huts provide the perfect backdrop for some quality relaxation time.

Day 12 Aqaba

Travel to Jordan on a ferry across the Gulf of Aqaba.

Day 13 Wadi Rum

Experience a memorable night with friendly Bedouin hosts. Tour through the breathtaking landscape of Wadi Rum desert in a jeep, admiring these ancient rock formations and towering sand dunes. Drift off to sleep counting stars in the night sky.

Days 14-15 Petra

Located a short distance from the city of Aqaba, Petra is a true highlight of the trip. Ancient pink-hued buildings carved into the rock of the surrounding mountains make visiting this ancient city a unique experience.

Days 16-17 Madaba

Wander the crusader castle at Karak, float in the Dead Sea and travel to Madaba, a city where Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics evoke memories of lost empires.
