Detailed Itinerary:

Days 1-2 Antigua

Take to the colourful streets of Antigua to admire the well-maintained colonial buildings and cobbled laneways. Perhaps venture up Cerro de la Cruz during the day to see the city framed by mountains.

Days 3-4 Flores / Tikal

Explore narrow lanes, pastel-coloured buildings and tiny shops in a real gem of Guatemala, Flores. Wake up early to tour the ruins of Tikal. Soaring above the jungle, these enormous limestone temples are some of the most magnificent of all the Mayan ruins, with the Tikal Pyramid itself being particularly spectacular.

Days 5-6 San Ignacio

Cross the border into easygoing Belize. Travel to San Ignacio town to enjoy a range of optional activities from tubing down the river to exploring the eerie Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, which is full of Mayan relics and crystallised skeletons.

Days 7-9 Caye Caulker

Arrive at Caye Caulker, off the coast of Belize, and discover a relaxed island with a distinctly Caribbean feel. Soak up the sun, swim in the warm waters or take an optional visit to Hol Chan Marine Reserve to dive with sharks. Enjoy feasting on some of Belize's legendary freshly-caught seafood at one of Caye Caulker's many beachside restaurants.

Day 10 Tulum

Cross the border into Mexico and travel up the coast to reach a tranquil beach haven. Laze on the powdery shoreline or explore the famous ruins in Tulum, which occupy one of the region's most breathtaking locations - a cliff top overlooking a palm-fringed beach.

Days 11-13 Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a vibrant beach town and the perfect place to have some more fun in the sun. Snorkel among the mangroves, swim in pristine blue water, walk along the white sands or enjoy a final fiesta to bid farewell to Central America. After all, what trip to Mexico would be complete without a few margaritas?
